This successful initiative combined litter-picking with education and community action to raise awareness about environmental conservation. During the event, volunteers collected 16 kg of waste, including a staggering 1,800 cigarette butts, preventing the contamination of thousands of liters of water. Last month, we at Sembeza Africa proudly hosted two days of multi-sport coaching clinics, designed to equip young athletes and local trainers with the tools to grow both on and off the field. One of the standout figures at the event was Coach Mavita Ali — a former national team player, current national coach for Uganda’s women’s basketball team, and executive director at Scorebeyond for Leadership Organization. Her energy, knowledge, and heart for the game left a lasting impact. In her basketball sessions, she focused on fundamentals, structure, and character-building — teaching players not just how to move with the ball, but how to think, lead, and grow through sport. As Coach Mavita said, “When you learn the structure and methodology, you can apply it to any sport — and to life.” While the clinics covered various sports, her approach reminded us that great coaching goes beyond technique. It’s about values, leadership, and showing young people what's possible when they commit to growth. We’re grateful for her contribution and for every coach who made this event a success. First included in UBUNTU 2024, Quadball was a festival highlight. While many people were puzzled at first, the sport’s fast pace and dynamic play make it an instant favourite. 2025 marks the second edition featuring Quadball, and we’re excited to expand its reach even further.
