Empowering Youth Through Sports and Environmental Conservation

Welcome to the Satellite Primary Schools Programme (SPSP), a transformative initiative by Sembeza Africa, RAC, and SportsUganda Ltd (UK). Our program intertwines sports and environmental conservation to impact young lives across Uganda.

Our mission

We are committed to building an inclusive, active, and environmentally aware generation by combining sports with Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

  • SDG 13: Combat climate change through sustainable action.

What we do

Our program has four main hubs in Uganda, impacting thousands of children:

  1. Akadot Primary School, Kumi District

  2. Xsabo Stadium, Kati-Kolo, Mukono District

  3. Ogul Primary School and Prisons Ground, Gulu District

  4. Karibu International School, Iganga District

We promote physical education, conservation, and life skills, creating opportunities for youth to thrive and learn.

Program Highlights

🌱 Environmental Impact

  • Tree planting activities at every hub to foster environmental stewardship.

  • Involvement of students and community leaders in conservation efforts.

⚽ Sports and Physical Education

  • Soccer, rugby, and netball drills that encourage teamwork and physical fitness.

  • Continuous mini leagues and after-school sports programs for over 10,000 young participants.

🎓 Lifelong Learning

  • Life skills education: health, relationships, and violence reduction.

  • A focus on engaging hard-to-reach and vulnerable groups, especially girls.

Partnerships

Our strength lies in collaboration with local, regional, and international partners, such as:

  • Local Partners: Gulu Team Initiative, Karibu International School, TESO PEDO, Ability Sports Africa, and more.

  • International Support: UNICEF, Southampton FC, University of Bath, and others.

Achievements

  • Pilot Success: Four hubs successfully launched, engaging thousands in sports and education.

  • Community Engagement: Leaders mobilized to address youth issues, including gender equality.

  • Visibility: Featured in international sports journals and local media.

  • Future Events: Mini Games Festival and participation in global youth tournaments.

The need

To scale our impact, we seek funding and equipment to reach more youth. There’s an urgent need for:

  • Balls, cones, and sports gear.

  • Facilities for continuous physical education and training of coaches and volunteers.
